Toronto Film School’s Film Fest 2025 celebrates student storytelling and cinematic ambition. Skylar crafted a bold, immersive brand experiencel using layered typography, dynamic motion, and a cohesive 3D visual language to elevate the festival’s identity.

The Challenge

Toronto Film School wanted a refreshed identity for its annual Film Fest—one that felt cinematic, professional, and student-driven. The challenge was to create a visual system that could scale across digital and print, feel bold yet minimal, and bring motion and energy to static formats. The design needed to highlight the event’s name and logo while staying true to strict brand guidelines and ensuring all assets were repurposable by the client team.

Our Approach

Inspired by the energy of student filmmaking, the campaign leaned into a Type Mix moodboard—playful yet structured typography, layered compositions, and high-impact numbers. The design was built to be repurposable, and visually cinematic. The program design followed a minimalistic approach, staying true to Toronto Film School’s brand guidelines. It balances boldness with clarity, allowing the event logo to stand out as the hero element across digital and print formats.

The Solution

Skylar developed a bold visual system anchored in layered, cinematic typography and a dynamic 3D design language. The word “FEST” was rendered in a balloon-style 3D font, adding depth and movement—especially impactful on digital screens where animation brought the design to life. The 3D layered approach extended across all assets, creating a unified identity that felt immersive and modern. The digital program embraced a minimalist layout, allowing the event logo to take center stage while maintaining clarity and ease of navigation. Every element—from posters to signage—was designed to be aligned with Toronto Film School’s brand guidelines.
